When God Judges a Nation: Part 2

Job 12:13-25 NASB
Wisdom and might are with Him; advice and understanding belong to Him. 14 Behold, He tears down, and it cannot be rebuilt; He imprisons a person, and there is no release. 15 Behold, He restrains the waters, and they dry up; and He sends them out, and they inundate the earth. 16 Strength and sound wisdom are with Him. One who goes astray and one who leads astray belong to Him. 17 He makes advisers walk barefoot and makes fools of judges. 18 He undoes the binding of kings, and ties a loincloth around their waist. 19 He makes priests walk barefoot, and overthrows the secure ones. 2He deprives the trusted ones of speech, and takes away the discernment of the elders. 21 He pours contempt on nobles, and loosens the belt of the strong. 22 He reveals mysteries from the darkness, and brings the deep darkness into light. 23 He makes the nations great, then destroys them; He enlarges the nations, then leads them away. 24 He deprives the leaders of the earth’s people of intelligence And makes them wander in a pathless wasteland. 25 They grope in darkness with no light, and He makes them stagger like a drunken person.

Isaiah 5:8 NASB
Woe to those who attach house to house and join field to field, until there is no more room, and you alone are a landowner in the midst of the land!

Luke 12:16-21 NASB
And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive. 17 And he began thinking to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and I will store all my grain and my goods there. 19 And I will say to myself, “You have many goods stored up for many years to come; relax, eat, drink, and enjoy yourself!”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your soul is demanded of you; and as for all that you have prepared, who will own it now?’ 21 Such is the one who stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich in relation to God.”

Isaiah 5:11-12 NASB
Woe to those who rise early in the morning so that they may pursue intoxicating drink,
Who stay up late in the evening so that wine may inflame them!  12 Their banquets are accompanied by lyre and harp, by tambourine and flute, and by wine; but they do not pay attention to the deeds of the Lord, nor do they consider the work of His hands.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 NASB
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, slanderers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of godliness although they have denied its power; avoid such people as these.

Isaiah 5:18
Woe to those who drag wrongdoing with the cords of deceit, and sin as if with cart ropes.

Isaiah 5:20 NASB
Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

Isaiah 5:21 NASB
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight!

Acts 12:21-23
On an appointed day, after putting on his royal apparel, Herod took his seat on the rostrum  and began delivering an address to them. 22 The people repeatedly cried out, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” 23 And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.

Isaiah 5:22-23 NASB
Woe to those who are heroes in drinking wine, and valiant men in mixing intoxicating drink, 23 Who declare the wicked innocent for a bribe, and take away the rights of the ones who are in the right!

Isaiah 5:24b-25 NASB
For they have rejected the Law of the Lord of armies, and discarded the word of the Holy One of Israel. 25 For this reason the anger of the Lord has burned against His people, and He has stretched out His hand against them and struck them. And the mountains quaked, and their corpses lay like refuse in the middle of the streets. Despite all this, His anger is not spent, but His hand is still stretched out.
